My Hue Shouldn’t Affect You or What You Do

What do you see when you look at me
Does my urban look get you shook
Do I portrait the look of a crook
Maybe if I were in a suit
No I tried that, then I was just a nigga trying to look cute
I never really tried to fit in
Talk differently and give fake grins
Even when Obama took the stage
That set off a new and even more hateful rage
I shed tears thinking of this great accomplishment
And what all people of color in this country have had to put up with, who witness it
Then I thought it really doesn’t matter
When teenage kids with online video games calling me a nigger, voice so full of joy and laughter
So what do you see when you look at me America
Do you see the records of inventions
That my people created, but get no mention
Or do you see images on your TV
Of someone who looks like me
Guilty of robbery
Have you ever wondered why race matters
If YOU were being robbed would the cops race matter
You closed minded people
You have a fucked up mind set, that your greater and we are not equal
So America what do you see when you look at me
Why do you treat my differences so badly
We can all learn and grow from one another
Its so bad different nationalities of color, don’t even get along
Claiming that those people do this and that, which is wrong
When will we wake up and see what’s really going on
My hue shouldn’t affect you or what you do
Its just a distraction so we wont take actions, against the real evil that me do
America I hope you now understand what this man is going through
